Am I to assume that some of these recipes are as is, or do you have to keep referring to the tips section at the beginning of the book? As I was trying one of the recipes, I followed it to the letter, but although the bread is tasty, the dough rose nicely, should I have kneaded it? The actual starter recipe worked well; the bread turned out very dense. This book was not clear on whether to use one set of instructions for some or all the recipes.
I was disappointed in this book as it was deceiving. I thought the book was recipes for sourdough breads and also about how to make your sourdough starter. I did get bits of information from it like how to tell is your starter is good
I confess that when it came to making homemade bread I didn't have a clue. But the instructions in this book are simple, straightforward and easy to do. Contains great bread recipes. If your not big on sourdough bread (like myself) there are plenty of other bread recipes. Try them you find tasty and quite interesting.
Got a multitude of recipes using sourdough starter, which is great! But no recipe for the actual starter itself! Got to google that, and of course, there are many ways to do it. But good collection otherwise.
I bought the book for the sourdough recipes, but there were only 2. The rest of the recipes were poorly written with little explanation of the end result. Some recipes had no visible leavening. I'm not sure if they would rise at all. Not worth buying in my opinion.
