4.0 out of 5 starsIntrigue in London, 1941.
Reviewed in Australia on 8 July 2020
(Amazon First Reads - July 2020.) This historical mystery by T.P. Fielding, an easily read mystery, full of intrigue, peopled by believable characters, I found to be most enjoyable. The author is an accomplished writer who easily and firmly set the scene in wartime London, especially in and around Buckingham Palace. Highly recommended.

3.0 out of 5 starsslow to start - worth hanging in there

Found this book a little hard to get my teeth into it. Guy Harford, the main character, is an artist well settled into life in Tangier. However, following a diplomatic incident in which he became involved, he was recalled to London. The real reason for this does not come to light until later in the book. On his return, Guy was given employment in Buckingham Palace and was requesting to " cover-up" the death of a colleague, whom Guy is convinced did not suicide, but may have been murdered. When the plot finally thickens towards the end, Guy's predictions proved to be correct.

Pleasant read, which gave me an insight into the intrigues that may have existed amongst the royal brothers pre Elizabeth 2's reign. Very British stiff upper lips everywhere. Good fun.
