Product description

With a peerless career of era-defining music to her name, Kylie will release an album of greatest hits titled 'Step Back In Time' out via BMG Records. This definitive collection of Kylie's most beloved tracks to date serves as a reflection of her record-breaking career, from the global number one smash hit 'I Should Be So Lucky' in 1987 through to her most recent album, the chart-topping 'Golden' released last year. Collectively, Kylie's singles have spent over 300 weeks in the Official Singles Chart Top 40. She has sold more than 80 million albums worldwide and her catalogue now boasts over half a billion streams globally on Spotify alone. Kylie has multiple awards and accolades to her name, including 3 BRIT Awards, 2 MTV Music Awards and a Grammy. Kylie's 2000 album 'Light Years' saw her now-iconic comeback with number one smash hit 'Spinning Around', which she followed up with the singles 'On A Night Like This', and her blistering duet with Robbie Williams, 'Kids'. In the following year, she released the 5x platinum-selling album 'Fever', which featured the singles 'Can't Get You Out Of My Head', 'In Your Eyes', 'Love At First Sight' and 'Come Into My World' – all of which are included on 'Step Back In Time'. X, Kylie's 2007 album featured the Calvin Harris-produced single 'In My Arms', '2 Hearts' and the UK Top 5 single 'Wow'. Other highlights of Kylie's incomparable back catalogue featured on the greatest hits album include 'Confide In Me', taken from her fifth studio album in 1994 and her duet with Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, the 1995 single 'Where The Wild Roses Grow'.

5.0 out of 5 stars 268. Kylie-cious and Golden

Her 4th official compilation (and the most comprehensive to date, featuring no less than 42 tracks), "Step back in time" takes Kylie's musical manifestations and ensures that everyone gets to marvel at her evolvement and shedding of several musical skins to metamorphosise into the much cherished icon she is.

Kylie has to be admired for hardly setting a foot wrong during her 3 decades in pop. From teenage sensation in the SAW era, bonafide pop star in "Let's get to it", dance-indie chic in the eponymous "Kylie Minogue" and "Impossible Princess" in the mid-Nineties, disco-princess in "Light years", sophisticated chanteuse in "Fever", electro-queen in "Body language", dancefloor-diva in "X", synth-goddess in "Aphrodite", sexy kitten in "Kiss me once", and country gal in "Golden", Kylie goes pop the whole way in the most fun way.

This generous 2-disc set omits quite a lot. "Ultimate Kylie" is her first truly comprehensive collection, the only one to feature all 31 of her singles up to 2004. With at least 15+ singles missing from this new one, definitive this is not. At least an extra disc's worth could have been added on with singles from previous collections (ie. "Chocolate", "Giving you up"), those which were completely left out (ie. nothing from the "Kiss me once" album), and some that almost never appear on any best-of ("Finer feelings").

Many editions and a variety of formats are available; the must-haves are the deluxe double CD that comes as as a hardback 32-page book with photos from the singles, and the coloured and picture disc vinyls, respectively, that come with a download for all 42 tracks (both feature 20 on disc). "SBIT" is an astonishing career-spanning collection from the UK's darling who remains untouchable for more than 3 decades, an ever changing kaleidoscope of colours and images.
