It isn't often I sit down with a book that is interesting enough to me that I finish it in one reading but this book was one. It was written clearly yet almost seemed like the author was sitting down having a conversation with you. He didn't try to complicate the process but rather encourages the reader to give it a try by showing each step through numerous photos and clear, concise instructions. The photos illustrating success are inspiring. I have since loaned it to a friend who is finding the same. You will want to try straw bale gardening once you've read this book. It might change the way you think about that garden you slave over each year!
Awesome. Best information on the topic we've found. (And we've done a lot of work online.) This book explained to my family what I want to do next spring. Very simple, clear information, great pictures - it was instrumental in getting them on board, and will likely be a big part of our success in the next growing season. (We hope. Bales are at the ready. We're excited. :) )
A must read for any grower or gardener who finds themselves in northern growing zones, with scant time in between spring thaw, and fall frost.
Just awesome. I have grown produce on twenty-two bales this summer all thanks to this book. Everything grew well and the height of the bales offers some protection from early frosts. One warning: slugs may find a home in the hay. I have already planned my layout for next year.
