There are a lot of limitations with 2 bay or lower tiered models that you might not notice right away, so I recommend always upsizing your NAS when purchasing for long term. I had been planning this purchase for a long time and I am using it to backup my photos, documents and media. It works great as a Plex Server and running docker containers for vpn/downloads works well. In order to use these products to their full potential you will need to understand how to do some simple programming and configure ip addresses etc. Out of the box it can still be used as a powerful backup/network tool but you wont be utilizing it to its full potential. That being said I learned everything I needed to by google searching and reading forums related to the issues I was running in to.
TLDR; Purchased as first NAS, highly recommend a 4 bay model for future expansion and the software/available features are very impressive. Only thing I would probably wish for is more ram, but that is easily added later when I need it.
