About the authors
Sri Swami Satchidananda was one of the first Yoga masters to bring the classical Yoga tradition to the West. He taught Yoga postures, meditation, and a vegetarian and more compassionate lifestyle to Westerners when he was invited to America in 1966 by the iconic pop artist Peter Max. The distinctive teachings he brought with him blend the physical discipline of Yoga, the spiritual philosophy of Vedic literature, and the interfaith ideals he pioneered. These techniques and concepts influenced a generation and a spawned Yoga culture that is flourishing today. The organization founded on his teachings, Integral Yoga International, is now a leading institute for Yoga teacher certification. Integral Yoga is the foundation for Dr. Dean Ornish's landmark work in reversing heart disease and Dr. Michael Lerner's noted Commonweal Cancer Help program. He is the author of many books on Yoga and is the subject of the 2008 documentary, Living Yoga.
Satchidananda Ashram–Yogaville was founded by Sri Swami Satchidananda (Sri Gurudev), an esteemed spiritual leader whose message of peace has been heard around the globe. Honored with the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award, Sri Gurudev dedicated his life to the cause of peace—both individual and universal—and to religious harmony among all people. His teachings and the path of Integral Yoga are the Ashram’s guiding principles. Learn more about Swami Satchidananda and Integral Yoga at: www.yogaville.org

A must need if you're taking Yoga to the next level!

The main purpose of reading this book was to go beyond the idea which already persisted within over the period of time.
Being Yoga Practitioner for several years and India Book of Records holder for holding Janusirsana (Yoga Pose) pose for longest duration, I thought I know everything about Yoga.
This book was an eye opener.
True form manisfests itself if one desires to and I am glad to know that I know nothing about Yoga and will soak more deeply to know and experience it in its purest form.
I recommend this book to everyone out there who believes Yoga is only about physical exercises and also to ones who do not truly knows what Yoga is all about.

If you're interested in the source of modern yoga, here it is properly and perfectly explained by a teacher invited to give the opening speech at the first ever music festival that mattered globally, the Woodstock festival at Haight Ashbury in 1967, the famous ' Summer Of Love '.
