Used this backpack every day on recent trip to Southeast Asia and it proved invaluable. Held a fair amount as my carry-on for flights, including camera, iPad, cables and batteries, toiletries, small towel; could have stuffed in more if necessary. Attached neck cushion with carabiner and was good to go. Various compartments kept smaller items handy without having to rummage around. On coach journeys and day trips kept it light with just a few essentials, and even in the heat (intense at times) it was very comfortable and did not cause a sweaty back, through a linen shirt at least. It also looked neat on my small (5ft 2) frame and more stylish than my previous ‘built for the hills’ packs.
Always used the anti-theft clips when out at nights, where I needed backpack as a shopper to hold souvenirs. Once, on a crowded street, felt a slight jostling on my back and turned round to see a guy up close with a scarf around his hand. With easier access he might have gotten away with something, who knows.
Now back home will get more good use of my backpack on long walks and days out with grandsons. Very happy so far.
However on arrival one of the zip holders for the zip wasn't nailed down all the way and as a result, the zip clasp has come off. I received this abroad on 2 month trip away so didn't have time to return it.
Shame as a result I can't say it has great build quality, but otherwise it is a good sized bag with good compartments.
Love this backpack. Nice to have the locking zips and all the other security features. Comfortable. Only thing is I had to pay customs charges which was unexpected. Red Pebble Products have said they will reimburse this to me. I have sent them proof but they have not reimbursed me.
I really wanted to love this bag. I thought it would be worth it to spend the extra money to buy this backpack for an upcoming trip to Europe. It has all the features you want: RFID protection, slash-resistant bag, locking compartment for all zippers, side pocket for your water bottle, and is big enough to carry your essentials. It definitely gave me the peace of mind that I needed when traveling. It also is really cute and durable, and goes well with any type of outfit. One thing I noticed off the bat was the main compartment's zipper lock was very stiff and I struggled to lock it. At first I was pleased because that would mean it would be very difficult for someone to pickpocket me, however after 2 days of use, the spring of the lock broke and was no longer functional. I was still be able to latch it but it would sometimes come undone and was easily unlatched without effort. I am normally very careful with my belongings so it was greatly disappointing that it broke so soon given how gentle I was. This basically made the backpack a regular backpack in terms of the zipper. Overall I definitely like the concept of this backpack and I was pleased with the appearance of it as well, but unfortunately the main feature I bought it for failed me.
Not cheap for sure, but it certainly worked. We had no issues where we traveled, an area of the world known for pickpockets, scammers and more brazen thieves. Comfortable to wear, handy pockets/compartments and a water bottle holder. Added a feeling of security while traveling through crowded markets or streets.
Used it to travel all over Europe for a carry on for sightseeing. I have everything in there even a Camera. I feel safe enough carrying it because of the safety features. But I swang it around to the side or front if I am in the metros or very populated area. There are plenty of pockets inside the bag and at the front zipper area for everything. But I wish there was a hidden zipper pocket at the back of the bag so I can feel safer knowing nobody can reach it while I have the bag on my back. Otherwise, the bag has gone through a lot of mileage and handling for the trip and it still holds up very well. Zipper still works well and love both side pockets with lots of room for both water bottle and umbrella.
Just used this bag on our trip to Ireland (my daughter has one as well and used hers on same trip). It fit everything we needed to carry around from airport to daytrips. The security features put us at ease. The only thing I would change is to add a zip pocket within the front “wallet” portion to use for cash (bills and coins). It was comfortable to wear all day/evening. Most days it held passport wallet, sunglass case, water bottle, rain jacket or sweater, cosmetic bag, foldable shopping bag...and often little purchases made along the way.
The bag itself helps a lot to feel secure. Travelling to Italy, with the apprehension of getting robbed by pick-pockets, this bag made me walking with more confidence. It is well built, the materials are really good quality EXEPT for the locks, who are really fragile.
I know that if pick-pockets tries to open the bag in a bus, train or else, it would be really difficult for them to do so without getting your attention. But when you're travelling, you open and close these clips quite often in a day. It seems like it hasn't been built to resist that. As a result, after only one trip of about 7 days, I got 2 broken clips... which make my bag not secure anymore. For the price of this bag, I would have expected more resistance of the clip, since it is one of the main characteristic that made me buy it.
