Very light compared to the older models I have and the stand is much more adjustable, allowing for a higher position. The bezel is tiny and the buttons are all responsive. Having them below the screen is a much better design than the front-facing buttons on the old monitors which could easily be knocked. I have it connected by Thunderbolt/USB Type-C directly to the Mac.
I wish the USB ports which came out of the side came out of the bottom instead, because I can't actually use them in a multi-monitor setup; there isn't enough space without leaving an unsightly gap between the screens! I don't think there would even be enough space for a thin right angled connector. But there are a couple of additional USB ports on the back so it's still a benefit overall. The monitor is gloss rather than matte but the anti-glare coating does a good job and I can use it next to my office window just fine. Now I just need to resist buying a second...
Unfortunately after only a few hours use the screen would go black for two or three seconds, when the display image came back it would have vertical lines or distorted colours. Switching the monitor off and back on would resolve the problem. I tried different solutions, different cables and eventually a different computer but the problem persisted.
I contacted Amazon to request an exchange. They could not do that so put me through to Dell, who suggested I return it to Amazon. I explained that Amazon put me through to them to request an exchange. After ages on the phone they said they would contact me by email within 2-4 days. This didn't happen so I requested a refund from Amazon, which went very smoothly.
I then ordered anew monitor from Amazon which has been fine and I would give it five stars. Excellent image, the mounting stand has plenty of adjustments for height, tilt and rotation both vertically and horizontally.
My first monitor was clearly faulty, which can happen, but it was difficult to do a simple exchange. I would suggest that if you do receive a faulty monitor and it is within the returns window it is simplest to return to Amazon.
Wanted a dual-monitor setup, so I grabbed another one. Exact same model number, but different SKU. Subsequently, the stands weren't the same, they sat at different heights so getting them to align was painstaking. The build quality of the second one was even worse, with warping again that could be seen from a distance.
To cap it off, perhaps because they were different SKUs, the colours and brightness varied noticeably between the two. The latter purchase showed a significantly duller image, and no amount of faffing with the settings could put it right.
In the end, I returned both. They're not terrible.. The picture quality is good, and if I'd only got the one, I'd probably have been reasonably content. But for a nearly 700 quid combined spend, they weren't up to par.
The monitors have no defects and the stands make them really flexible, with them rotating in all directions.
Only negative is the lack of HDMI cables and the shortness of the supplied cables, but that's a minor thing.
The monitor is incredibly clear, and the USB-C connection for linking a laptop works incredibly well. Note however, that a USB-C to USB-C cable is not included i.e. what is called a Thunderbolt cable in Apple language. Only USB to USB-C included, which cannot be used to connect laptop for screen output (and charging simultaneously), only for charging. Recommend you buy one separately at time of ordering if in a rush to get this working.
The 60Hz refresh rate is more than good enough for gaming, but if you are primarily a gamer unfortunately you should probably look elsewhere for higher refresh. For connecting to Macbook and occasional gaming this monitor is however absolutely magnificent.
It however arrived a whole week late, without any updates as to why. My daughter missed a week of school, which is a shame.
