Pros:
- Supports sRGB and P3 colour gamut. Colours are bright and well saturated.
- 4K in 27inch means the image and text is much sharper. Though this applies to almost all 27 4K displays anyway.
- Monitor stand as in many Dell displays is well build and ergonomic. Easy to set height, rotate and swivel.
Cons:
- Build quality is absolutely terrible. Bottom edge of the frame was already stated tearing apart.
- OSD buttons below not easy to press at all. Because they were attached to the frame below that coming apart.
- Later discovered that the bottom right of the panel was sticking out about 1-2mm and not flushed to the frame as it normally should be.
- The colours in the area that panel sticks out were faded as well. Pressing the panel slightly inside brought back the colours. This is a brand new monitor. Unbelievable.
- With further inspection I found out the monitor not even sticked together well enough. You can feel certain vibrations when tapping back of the casing meaning there are hollow areas where the connection of parts should stick together.
- Also, of course, the backlight bleed. I don't mind it normally. But it was like a faded light source into the room rather than a black screen. Compared it to BenQ PD2700U that I purchased the same day. BenQ was far better on managing backlight bleed.
- White uniformity was another problem. There were shades on white surfaces. To see the correct white colour, I had to change the angle I look at the monitor. I know this is ridiculous given that it's an IPS display.
I had a u2715h 4 years ago that was brilliantly made. I had no problem with it. Now I can see how miserably Dell fails in quality control these days. There are people saying they have no problem with this unit but I say that's just luck. Out of 4 dell purchases I made, 3 of them are sent back. Here's a summary of that:
1. U2715H - 2016 - No problem. Works fine after 4 years.
2. U2515Q - 2019 - Grey lines on screen. A common problem with these units. Sent back.
3. U3515W - 2020 - Random black screen while connected to my 2014 or 2019 Macbooks. Sent back.
4. U2720Q - 2020 - All the issues I mentioned above. Return started. Awaiting collection.
If you feel lucky, try your chance. Otherwise, stay away.
