This cable (and apparently many others) will only give you full function if you plug the earpods into the cable first, then plug the cable into your device - iPhone or computer (the reason I needed to extend the length of the original cable). If you plug the cable into the computer first, then the earpods connection, only audio works. Just FYI if you think they don't work (like I did). Had to go searching the Apple forums for a cable that worked and then found the answer to the problem.
I used this product to extend my gaming headphones but found that the shared ground of this wire causes the computer output to come through your mic. Your friends will hear your system through the mic.
This is not a product issue it's the way I'm using it, but it is not good for game recording.
Bought this for my Mac Book Pro for extending my boss headset. While using this for conference calls, other people complained about echo. I later tested it just with the extension cable alone with nothing plugged into it. I could see on the control panel that music playing through the extension was being picked by the extension input source.
My conclusion is that the wires don't have enough insulation to prevent crossfeed from the audio output to the mic input. I returned the product.
Hi, If you intend to run the cable on the inside of the shirt (think a wired lav mic) you might want to be aware that the wire enclosure is kinda rough. So it's like a clothed enclosure but this cloth is super rough, instead of smooth to the skin. So for the singular edge case of using this to connect a lav mic to your phone, for example, you may wish to seek out a different extension cord, if you suspect this will feel uncomfortable against your skin.
Aside from that, it's pretty decent, recommended! UGREEN has been a solid brand for me for the three different doohickey cables and adapters, and they ship fast usually due to Amazon Prime, and the reviews are usually authentic and helpful and they are widely appreciated so give them a try!
This seems like a solid well made extension chord and the jacks fit well. But the material this is shielded with is some kind if metallic mesh and it has a life of its own. It slips and slides all over and doesn't like to stay where you put it. Other than that it's great so far.
No hissing, static, echo or anything. Clear voice chat in games. Connections are nice and tight. Using with Arctis 1 headset with AMD X470 onboard audio and Windows Spatial for Headphones. No complaints. I bought a UGREEN Y-adapter last year with no problems, but my new headset has a single 3ft 3.5mm (too short) so I needed an M/F extension.
