A means to connect a portable device to a hi-fi system, audio amplifier or preamplifier, otherwise to connect the output from a DAC or headphone amplifier to a hi-fi amplifier. It is for the latter purpose that the "KabelDirekt – 1m Aux/3.5mm to RCA Splitter Cable (Audio & Auxiliary Cable, 3.5mm Aux to 2 RCA, Hi-Fi, Stereo, Phone, iPod, Double Shielded) PRO Series" is required.
Although a portable DAC amplifier is owned and used, another mains-powered version is required for use with a PC for improved output performance that will not be limited to the few hours of use permitted by an internal battery. A choice of a specific DAC model and brand is yet to be finalised.
The cable is typical of those from the brand from which several others are in current use both in a computing context but also with video equipment. This is from their 'PRO' series and uses higher quality cabling and connectors as well as sharing some stylistic characteristics.
Tested by connecting a DAP to a hi-fi setup, it performs to expectation and without introducing any unwanted effects. Without ever using a comparable cable any possible performance improvements beyond that of an inexpensive alternative cannot be claimed. It is expected to soon be in regular use.
The Ugreen stuff has been decent for me so far, used a few cables and adapters and also a bluetooth to phono adapter (to get the echo dot audio to the amp). Better than the budget generic stuff I used to use - the modest increase in cost definitely pays in terms of quality and durability.
Another good thing which I hope they stick to is packaging their cables and dongles in nice small cardboard boxes with a printed sleeve - far better for recycling than a nasty blister packet.
For the price this is a nice product. I could find no way of fitting the optical cables[they would not fit the socket]. The unit has a lot of bass resonance and i found that the treble hed to be increased to overcome this. The performance was then very acceptable. Because this process had to be repeated every time you switch the unit on, i now leave it permanently powered.
I think for the price it is well worth the money and turns the useless sound from some television sets to very acceptable.
Bought this for this
Asus Xonar U7 7.1 Channel Echelon Compact USB Soundcard and Headphone Amplifier
so I could plug my main speaker jack in.
It came in a thick plastic resealable bag, which is brilliant - I expected the typical clamshell packaging that lacerates hands! Build quality is excellent, cheaper cables usually feel flimsy or have loose connectors, this does not. It has a band that keeps both RCA connectors together, helps things not tangle. It can't go all the way up due to the connector thickness though.
Received it within a couple of days and it works perfectly. I am using it to connect a chromecast audio to our old pioneer music system, thereby allowing us to play the music on the ipad through the speakers, wirelessly. It looks good quality too, tho' to be fair it probably won't be moved about much now that it is in position.
