This LED light is very bright for the wattage consumed. The motion sensor is so so. Most of the time it doesn't respond to a person walking towards the light and other times it stay on for a long while until manually turned off. It also randomly turned on while on auto.
It works fine when operated manually. Out of curiosity, I've took light apart to see what's inside so I will not be able to return it. What I've found inside is what appears to be a well made circuit board with a large flat li-ion battery with dimension about1/4"×1"×4" in length on the backside of the board.
As is, this light is not working as intended only manually.
Update: This light turned out to have a bad PIR sensor. That is after I've removed the PIR sensor from the board and tested the board for function. Without the PIR sensor when on sensor (blue or green) mode, the light when turned on will go out 20 seconds later and stay out. The workmanship of the circuitboard appears to be excellent. As a result, I felt it was worth while to do the repair. The light works fine after I've replaced the PIR sensor with a new one. The sensor was brought here on Amazon.
Q C should do a better job at the factory in checking out products before shipping.
I'm not sure I can stand behind the quality of these lights. Originally I bought 3 of them 6 months ago, and exchanged one immediately because it was broken (they replaced it promptly). Now 6 months in one of them has broken (the button doesn't' turn on the light anymore).
How I am using them: I placed 1 above my back door so that when I walk in the house I have a light to see with, and the other 2 are along the baseboard of the top and bottom of my stairs so I can see at night. As a neutral observation, I would not place these on the stairs if you have pets. They trigger them frequently, wearing the battery down fast.
Pros: - They are VERY bright. That's nice! - They are rechargeable so you are not wasting batteries - Easy to install, just throw the sticky magnet on your wall and that's it.
Cons: - The construction seems iffy. Out of the 4 total I've purchased, 2 were defective - They run out of battery fast for the application I use them for (on the stairs) with my pets who trigger them. I feel like they are dead within a few days which is maddening to recharge constantly. - It seems difficult to set the switch to the correct motion setting. Sometimes I feel like no matter what setting it's set on it won't turn on, and other times it's hyper-sensitive. I read the directions on how to set it, but that didn't seem to fix it.
Overall, buyer beware. I bet these really only work super well in closets with low traffic.
Packaged well, easy to install, lasts 23 seconds then turns off. There’s a strip of magnet-like material that uses adhesive to stick to the surface of where it is applied. I did not bother cleaning or sanding the wood and it is still stuck strong after several weeks. The strip light magnets to the sticker strip. It is easy to take down and charge with a cable I have from another device. You have to be within a centimeter or so to get the motion censor to come on if working directly under it. Alternately you can merely enter the room lined up with the end of it and the motion sensor will recognize you. Either way, the light only remains on a consistent 23 seconds. Not nearly enough time for me to finish my tea. The brightness is fine, but the motion sensor and the programming that tells it how long to stay lit makes it unusable to me. In addition I’m hunting down the review that said it stayed on 2 minutes and reporting it.
I added small magnets w/ hot glue so I could add to bottom of my metal kitchen Cabinet. Light worked great about a week on a charge. Motion activated when you walk near the location. Was great while it worked. The USB CHARGING PORT fell apart and then I couldn’t recharge it anymore. Kinda crappy that I only got 8 months out of this light. Hey cheap China manufacturing. I’ll look for a light less likely to fall apart in under a year. Should have gotten at least 2 years out of this thing. CHEAP, works for only a short time. Not a good value.
It arrived quickly, but I could not figure out how to use it--and I consider myself fairly tech savvy. The instructions were useless and tiny print. After playing w it for a long while-- i got it going, and was impressed by the light output. Works well. Sensor easily triggered...no adjustment...which limits the applications on where to put it. I would recommend that you buy one to try out to see if it works for you. Brightness is excellent.
Update: I've had a few months to play with it. The button on the end is not good. I always need a screwdriver to poke at the button to get it to work. I no longer recommend this product due to poor usability.
This light bar is plenty bright. But you must charge it on computer, which I missed in the description. That is on me. It takes a long time to charge, and the charge doesn't last long. The light is very bright. But it would be a colossal pain to install this in closet and have to keep pulling it off the magnetic strip to recharge. Plus it takes up lots of room near your computer for charging. I would not recommend buying it.
This lamp doesnt hold enough charge. I had to connect it to a usb power supply permanently to get it to be useful. Most likely a subpar battery is used inside that doesnt hold enough power without having to charge it everyday. I was having to charge it every day and it got to the point where i just wired a long usb cord and plugged it i to a usb power supply on the wall. I imagine having it set to motion detection uses allot of power maybe. Was going to return it and buy something else that wuld work better but gave up and just kept it. As long as you have it plugged in it will work while charging. Only thing is will emit a red or blue status light while plugged in. What can you do...
I attached the tape side of the magnet to my closet door. I rubbed, pushed and held the magnet to the door for two minutes to help it adhere. Not even 24 hours later and the light and magnet are sitting on the floor.
I have purchased these type of strip lights before and bought these because I wanted the 78 bulb ultra brightness, but they do not deliver. They are also supposed to be magnetic so you can take them on and off to charge, but did not include the metal adhesive strip for the wall to be able to do that, had I known I would have chose a different light. Very disappointed.
Cant comment on how they work because the light was inoperable when I received it. Returned for a refund so I can get something else but it sounds like a good light, may be a little pricey for what it is and the size. Smaller than expected but I'm sure it would be very bright, if it works.
