This book is beautifully illustrated with characters and objects that are instantly recognizable to young ones. It is educational, showing the life cycle and other characteristics of the butterfly. The book is interactive with a delightful finger-puppet that allows the child to become part of the story.
4.0 out of 5 starsA good way to help young readers learn to count... Not the classic story.

Bought this as a gift for a new baby as a timeless classic, to go with a Hungry Caterpillar baby grow. I loved the idea of the Classic story now with a finger puppet. The product description stated that this is "Eric Carle's classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, with a wriggly finger puppet" - this is a nice little book, The pages were quite chunky printed on thick card this added to the fun that you could have with the Caterpillar finger-puppet as you could make him wriggle through each page Unfortunately, there is no classic story. It's more of a counting book..... "1 delicious apple, 2 crisp pears, 3 tart plums, 4 sweet strawberries, 5 juicy oranges, many colours a beautiful butterfly." 6 pages.... counting up to 5. A good way to help young readers learn to count ... This is a book that I have fond memories of from my childhood And One of my daughters' favourite stories when they were little (many moons ago)
it would have been nice to wipe off the tea cup marks on front cover and the dried food on pages 2 and 5. i dont mind wear and tear but filth! this is for my baby. lucky i checked it before i gave it to her. also the puppet smells of mold and damp. this is going in the bin.

What a rip off! The description states 'Eric Carle's classic, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, with a wriggly finger puppet'. This is not the case at all as the story isn't in this book - just counting & some pictures of the fruit! It comes in a plastic wrapper, so you have to remove this to find this out and therefore cannot return it. Very disappointing.
3.0 out of 5 starsNice toy but doesn't have the whole story in it.

Very cute and my little boy loves grabbing the furry Catepillar. But beware, the book doesn't feature the full story, it's more of the edited highlights. Fine for my 8 month old who probably would t follow the plot but would possibly annoy an older child already familiar with the story
Absolutely fab book. My baby loves the little caterpillar's head wiggling around as you read. She's only 9 months and is so entertained by it. Definitely worth buying for your baby or young toddler.
