When Wishes Bleed tells the story of Sable daughter of Fate and Tauren the prince. When Sable reads his fortune, Fate shows her that his life is in danger and it is up to her to save him. The Prince is due to choose a bride and Sable being a witch cannot marry. Witches hand-fast for one year, devoting themselves to their partner during this time. With his life in danger, the Prince extends an invitation to Sable to be one of the women he will choose his bride from. Sable agrees as it is the only way she can protect him from the danger he faces.
I won’t spoil the story by giving anything away, but I will say this is a fabulous story and one that you won’t want to end. There’s action, magic, evil, mystery, and of course love woven through the pages and written superbly too. Ms. Bond has a way with words that draw you in and don’t let you go. The descriptions are so visual that I felt like I was there in the Palace and in the Gallows.
I fell in love with the characters even Fate himself towards the end. The side characters Brecan and Mira are the perfect accompaniment for Sable and I enjoyed reading about them all. Sable’s story is unique and this story is one that will stay with me for quite some time. I actually didn’t want it to end.
It is a definite 5 stars from me, and if you enjoy magic and witches and romance, I highly recommend giving it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
Not only did this book venture into the importance of Fate but it also told us all about loneliness, fear and prejudice. A world of witches that are feared and not accepted. And of course the ever present battle between good and evil.
Sable faces threats from every side and has to battle the love she feels for someone and her duty. She also has to tackle unrequited feelings that she does not return.
I stayed up until 1 in the morning because this book had me so enraptured I simply had to finish it.
I look forward to more!
I'm hoping and praying that in the future we may get more? #begs.
This was so far from my normal read but it's now on my re read list.... I honestly believe it's my favourite read this year xx
I read it in no time at all because I could hardly put it down.
It felt fresh and original and even though it had all of the classic components of a book of its genre, it didn't feel like it was a recycled version of something i've read a thousand times.
