Overall I am happy with the purchase. The quality of the microphones and receiver is quite good for the price. I love the automatic pairing of the microphones with the mixer-receiver, so that part of the setup was super-easy!
But the HDMI connections are not really useful for karaoke purpose because of the latency (lag) issue. I am not a sound technician or an electronics expert, so initially I took the advice from one of the Q&A answers here and set up as follows - I hooked up my Fire stick directly to the mixer's HDMI-in, and relayed the YouTube content from the Fire stick to the TV through the mixer's HDMI-out. But when I sang into the mic, there was a noticeable lag! It is NOT an issue with the equipment, but rather simple physics - the TV plays the music video and my natural voice sings/syncs to the TV sound, but my voice also gets transmitted by the microphone to the mixer... the mixer converts my voice from analog to digital signals and then sends it out to the TV again via HDMI. The result - a lag between the TV output of my singing and my natural voice!
My solution was to (re)connect the Fire stick to the TV directly, as I had been doing all along before I bought this mixer. But instead of outputting the TV sound to my sound system directly, I route it through the mixer using the AUX cables provided. This way, my voice gets mixed with the TV sound (YouTube content) without the analog-to-digital conversion (I think), and gets transmitted to the sound system at about the same instant! The lag is now virtually eliminated!!
There are 1 or 2 negative reviews complaining about the lag issue, but as I said earlier, I think it is a problem of physics and not of the equipment. I suppose a more expensive equipment with a faster processor may be able to reduce the lag by processing the analog-digital conversion faster, but it will not eliminate it (because your TV voice is processed after the YouTube content and your natural voice). That said, I think it renders the HDMI connections pretty useless for karaoke purpose! I'd be interested to hear any suggestions otherwise.
