A good lore book for collectors, but not much else here to write home about.
The book is hardback and is of very good quality, pages are a thick glossy paper and feel great to turn.
I found most of the pages filled with adverts to buff out the lack of actual content, its great for immersion and gives you an idea of the world, but as a result I find the content is seriously lacking.
The layout is generally confusing and off-putting as you read through, one minute you're reading on the left, then the right, then there's a small section on the next page, its all over the place.
I found the images of poor quality, nothing is sharp and clear, images are blurry, lack colour and are generally washed out. This may be a stylised thing, but I was hoping to see high contrast, sharp and clear screenshots, instead its just a mish mash of concept art and poor quality images, adverts and generally filler.
Very disappointed with this, there's nothing here you cannot find out online for free, the book whilst good quality doesn't give you anything new, its overpriced and generally boring to read.
Its missing so much content I don't even know where to begin!
I can safely say that this is a superb addition to what is shaping up to be a groundbreaking game! The quality of the book is top draw, and it will make a great addition to a book case. The artwork really brings Night City to life and the information on the world of Cyberpunk covers a lot of ground. I played a lot of Cyberpunk 2020 back in the 80's & 90's and there is a lot of nostalgia in here for me, but there is just as much new information too so well worth a buy. I'm now looking forward to the game being released even more now, as well as the massive game guide ( which I've also got on order!) One tip though...if your considering buying this book, I'd go with the hard copy. I previously purchased the kindle version but its really difficult to read some of the text. The hard copy, though more expensive, is well worth investing in on this occasion, as the artwork really should be appreciated in a real book.
Having been fortunate enough to have a PC able to play and enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 [within limits] I considered the true beauty and enjoyment of that game focused around the art and architecture of Night City. Sadly unlike the other Dark Horse Books I own there is zero insight in the art design but rather a self indulgent, in character promotional material regurgitating a handful of data chips found in dumpsters in the game with a few images from the game's promotional material littering the internet already. Owning the Dishonoured 2 art book and even the Ghost in the Shell live action Art Book this pales in comparison. I would strongly advise against buying this as new and pick up a cheap 2nd hand copy as this game fades in people's memory if you must pick it up. Better still buy up Cyberpunk Red or the original TTRPG.
With the game being delayed, again, I wanted this to immerse myself in the backstory and lore. Beautiful book. Wasn't keen on the convoluted backstory in the first few pages, but the rest of the book more than makes up for it.
Glad I did buy because the game was delayed yet again to December, so I get to read this stunning book again in the meantime.
Nice history of the years leading up to Cyberpunk 2077. Sets the scene for the game, regarding the world and the technology, the many gangs of the world. Depending on how well the game is written, it may or may not inform your decisions while playing.
The artwork is good. Nothing mind blowing, just good. I mean it's better than I could draw lol. But, as they say, everyone's a critic :D
I say buy it, even if just to support CD Projekt Red. We want them to be able to continue to make amazing games.
I bought this for my boyfriend as he has been eagerly anticiapting the game for years, and was interested in the book as a companion peice. Due to the game being delayed multiple times, we got the book first, but it does not give major spoilers. It's a beautiful thick heavy book with some impressive art and information about the world of the game. A worthwhile purchase for collectors and fans, as well as appreciators of video game art.
A very good book for any fan of the Cyberpunk 2077 game and/or the cyberpunk genre. It isn't just an art book. It is a very detailed insight which serves as more of a companion guide really, which was a lot better than I expected. The artwork in the book is very good though. A must-have for any fan.
A thorough introduction into the world of Cyberpunk. A world I will likely be spending a lot of time in when it drops. This fully explains the lore and the settings we’ll come across in-game and also has some dope artwork.
