No more trying to figure out if I should press Y or X to pause a film or questioning how I open the Blu Ray menu - this remote has the standard Play, Stop, Pause .etc. buttons with relatable icons. It simply looks like a standard remote which a few more options.
Design wise, it is well thought through and has a nice backlight under the buttons, which lights up as soon as you pick up the remote - helpful when you have the lights dimmed for movie night! The back light will also turn off instantly, once movement has stopped.
Connection is a breeze; just hit the Xbox button at the top of the remote and you are connected!
Overall, I would recommend this remote to those looking to simplify their TV / Movie watching experience via Xbox.

Nice look and feel, batteries included and works perfectly. I had already set the xbox to turn on the tv and sky automatically and when they came on I realised there was no mention of the pdp controller being able to operate them but tried the volume button anyway and it worked. Then tried pausing sky and that worked too! No fussy selections, it just controls everything. Was not sure how to change channels etc. as xbox pop up appeared instead of sky home but am more than happy that it controls the xbox and tv volume. Have not yet tried amazon and netflix via xbox, but will give them a try to see if the pdp remote controls them too, as I could never master the xbox controller. Brilliant bit of kit - the expensive oneforall remote refused to operate the xbox one s and was so complicated, thoroughly recommend the pdp talon remote.
The minute I saw it, holding it in hand, I knew this was awesome. I don't think I have a single bad thing to say about its build quality. The plastic is sturdy, and it has no blotches or fraying of sorts, like you might see with really cheap plastic devices. Even the texture of the buttons and casing feels really nice.
The main thing I really feel I need to stress, is that it works very well at the 7-8ft I use it, and there are no issues at all with the signal being picked up from the XBOX S, regardless of my positioning (within reason, obviously) which sits level at and to the left of my TV, mostly unobstructed.
I think, if you're going to have your XBOX hidden away like your nasty dark secrets, then yes, you MIGHT have problems with signal. That said, curled up on the sofa, I experimented by putting the controller behind both my legs, against the sofa, and the XBOX still picked up the signal without issue.
The design in general did seem to overlook something rather obvious: the A, Y, B, and X buttons do not light up, to echo other reviewers here. I'm not sure whether its a design fault or a manufacturing fault. In any case, it's hardly game over, as the rest of the lights do effectively guide you the way, allowing for easy tactile discovery.
What I never realised, and is perhaps one of the coolest features I've seen in a remote control, is that when you pick it up, the lights come on. I might be the only one impressed by this, but I think it's really cool. The lights don't stay on forever either, if you're worried about your battery being drained quickly; if anything, they perhaps go out a little too soon.
The price was absolutely worth it, and I would gladly get another if needed, especially when you consider the other, ridiculously-overpriced remote control Micro$oft are offering.
Aside from the aforementioned buttons missing their lighting, the only other thing I'd want is buttons for the triggers and bumpers, just in-case, but it's certainly not a deal-breaker.
I've used this remote with Netflix, YouTube, and other applications, without issue.
Edit: also works well with Xbox one X.
Immediately set up for my Xbox One S out of the box. All the buttons work except the left direction button is stiff and needs to be pressed harder than the other buttons. The XYAB buttons are a blessing. Otherwise the only difference to the original Xbox media remote is that this remote is cheaper.
I set it up on my Hisense smart tv and tested it using the NowTV app. Xbox proclaimed that it had identified my tv and knows how to control it but the volume controls didn't work. Back into settings to manually set it up and searched for my tv make to manually set it up, went through the tests and then the volume worked.
Overall good for controlling media including streaming media apps but even better if TV is routed through the Xbox.
So i needed a media remote for YouTube and other streaming services. I decided to go with this remote and have been very happy with it.
The buttons light up when touched or tapped which I wasn’t aware it did.The quality is great has a really nice soft plastic feel but also strong and sturdy. The buttons are also great quality and feel good .
My only negative is the contectivity isn’t the same as the game controller, you have to have the Xbox in view, mine was tooked away on a low shelf and the view was blocked with my bed, the remote would have difficulty working until I moved the Xbox higher and now works fine.
I would recommend this item.
