netflix, disney+,Prime Video, Stan, 7plus, 9 now, 10, VLC video player(for usb movies)
fast and snappy, doesnt really turn off, just goes into stand by(hold power button to reset and power off)
cons: red light at the back when in standby, hdmi cable it comes with is very short, pairing the remote needs work(pressing the 2 buttons doesnt work for me, but i just press the back button and it paired? i dont know?).
Apps for global streamers like Netflix and Amazon Prime video are fine and the certification needed to receive 4K streams is there. For other streaming apps these will need to be side-loaded as they're not available at the Google Play TV app store. Often the tablet version of the app will parse, but without a touchscreen you will need an USB airmouse, though a standard optical mouse would also at a pinch work.
Only a single USB port and no microSD card slot and with only 3-4GB of storage available, you're really going to have to use an external USB harddrive to store and play movies. This can be a problem when you have a USB mouse connected to the only available USB port. To get around this I connected a Ugreen USB extender and that worked flawlessly.

I decided to at least get rid of the fire stick and start a little divorce and get some separation from big A.
After careful consideration I went for the Mi box s, I have had cheaper android streaming boxes before but the lack of support for even 1080p in Netflix was a killer for me.
But this box does have the 3 apps I use the most at 1080p- You tube, Netflix and prime video I use in that order so I was happy with that and I thought any missing apps I can manually install.
I hate the BBC but every now and again they do knock out a good documentary so adding it manually did not bother me, but it does not work with the Mibox as it has no control and I found I could scroll down and left only, I was not too bothered as I can just cast it by the inbuilt chromecast and cast from my phone as I use it very little and the rest of the UK catch up apps I don't use at all due to the constant stream of adverts .
Where I did have issue is the lack of compatible apps or very little choice as they are not a lot available and if I sideloaded would I have the same control issue as iplayer? but the killer was the lack of expandable storage as 8GB is not a lot now a days and I'm sure with a good kodi build on there you will end up space managing.
I did expect a USB drive to be classed as extra storage but I could only get movies to play from it.
I love the Xiaomi brand I have bought loads of their gear over the years and its one of my go to brands for quality electronics at a decent price but on this one they fall a little short for the price. If it was half the price around £40 then I would persevere and be all in but at £80 it does not feel value for the money.
I'm sure they could update the controls firmware side so it works even if it's with side loaded apps but sadly, I have decided to return the unit and just go all out and get the Nvidia TV.

It's so close to being a reasonable alternative to the Nvidia Shield, but so so far away because of the above.
I know I could sideload apps, but this just shows how useless Android TV is at the moment, and I'm an avid fan of all things Google.
Such a shame.

Streaming is seamless, we could easily connect the PS4 controllers to it to play games. You can install APKs from USB and download a ton of applocatiins from the Playstore.
