I purchased my Yammy CX-A5200 through Amazon. I am using it to replace my Yamaha CX-A5100 which I gave to my son. I am delighted with the purchase. The AI, about which I was skeptical, adds a significant dimension to the sound fields. The sound is deeper and more vivid than the 5100. Dialogue is clearer, cleaner and more pronounced without overwhelming any musical accompaniment. I am running an ATI 3000 amp and B&W 802 Nautilus mains. Also, I use an Oppo 205. I listen to a lot of music through the Oppo and the 5200 really does it credit, improving depth, precision and stage as I hoped and expected. It is not Imax enhanced but there is not a lot of Imax enhanced offerings, so until we have the start of a library of Imax enhanced DVDs, I am not missing anything. Yamaha announced that it will provide a firmware upgrade to eARC to which I look forward--the sooner the better Yamaha. I have heard it said that the 5200 doesn't offer much more than we got from the 5100. I don't agree. Listen to these and let your ears tell the difference.
I upgraded from the Yamaha rxa3050 and although it improved my music quality I must admit that it wasn't a night and day difference. Looking back I think I should have just used an external amplifier along with my rxa 3050 and archived close to the same quality of music as I am now experiencing with this processor. Yes it has improved my music but I think it's more because of the amp rather than the processor but it is a great piece of equipment and I am enjoying it. Overall, I am happy with it. The main problem with this processor is how inferior the surround stage is especially for movies. The ambient or background sound effects is so lacking that I can hardly recommend it for home theater. For music however it does a fine job as long as you don't play 2 channels stereo. I like to music cast and the ease of use. A good processor but far from great. Yamaha customer SUPPORT is almost always bad as it gets. One bright spot; Yamaha makes some of the most durable products.
4.0 out of 5 starsGreat product but disappointed with Amazon

Product Sounds great, works great, and was a great price but I am disappointed with Amazon. I bought a brand new item. The first one showed up after waiting 2 weeks and was damaged (But clearly a new sealed product). I contacted customer service to set up an exchange (so far so good). The new one arrives after another 2 weeks and it has clearly been opened and returned...The batteries were already in the remote, the packaging inside had clearly been opened. The product is 100% functional and in perfect shape but doesn't seem right that it was replaced with an open box product.
2.0 out of 5 starsIf you’re looking for Alexa connectivity... RUN

If you’re looking to use this without Alexa, or just in a basic function, it’s a great sounding pre processor that’s offers a lot of channels.
If you want to connect it to any sort of smart home, especially via Alexa... RUN. The MusicCast app and connectivity is one of the worst implementations of smart technology I’ve seen. It simply stops working randomly, sometimes during mid song and you basically have to delete everything and add it all back again. This happens probably 2-3 times per week.
Seriously, it’s horrendous and the PMs and devs of Yamaha should be embarrassed to release a product that simply doesn’t work. If Yamaha doesn’t come out with an upgrade soon, I’ll be selling this. For the cost, it shouldn’t feel like an amateur coded the smart integration.
