ようやくYUKO MABUCHI のアルバムが届いた。コロナ問題で1ヶ月かかった。
マイルスへのトリビュートアルバムで、8曲中5曲がマイルス作の名曲、3曲が馬淵の曲である。
早速デッキで聞いた。すばらしいアルバムだった。

第一に、音が最高にいい。1曲目からボリュームを上げてしまった。
ピアノの音が豊かに響く。ドラム、ベースの音は控え目で、曲の要所要所にしっかり鳴っている。トランペットはピアノ少し後ろで柔らかく鳴ってる感じ。

第二に、演奏がいい。マイルスの曲が、完全に馬淵クインテットの演奏になっている。
2曲目のブルー・イン・グリーンなど、馬淵のピアノは、メランコリックで気高い叙情性を感じる。ビル・エバンスのコピーをしていない。JJ・カークパトリックというトランペッターの演奏はメロディアスで簡潔。もっと聴いていたくなる。

第三に、これがライブだというから驚きだ。バンドのどの楽器も歌ってる。
もちろん主役は馬淵だが、誰もが相手の音を大事にしながら、トータルに盛り上がっていく所が良い。

馬淵はアメリカ西海岸で活躍中だという。日本のジャズファンはもちろん、オーディオファンもこのアルバムを音量を上げて聴いてほしい。きっと魅了されるだろう。
