I am including several pictures showing this set (black), vs another one I got from Costco last year (blue).
I am an engineer, so I decided to test how this set compares with one of the most popular snorkel sets in the US (sold at Costco supermarkets, and Amazon https://amzn.to/3jnTxPI). I vacuumed the bottom of my pool (~20min) using my trusted POOL BLASTER Water Tech Catfish Swimming Pool Cleaner (https://amzn.to/2T4e4ON).
I did half of the pool using the Zeeporte set, and the other half using the Costco US Divers snorkel set. Then I asked my wife and 10y old daughter to try it out the Zeeporte, and let me know what they think.
Here is what I found:
1) Fins: Very easy to adjust and the size range is bigger than advertised: The Zeeporte snorkel set is lighter and more flexible than the US Divers' set I already had. I got the Zeeporte medium size and was surprised the fins had a good fit considering my feet are pretty large (US 13.5/EU 47), the fins worked well for my 10y old who has small feet (US 5/EU 35). The fins feel more comfortable than the other set I have but don't look as robust so time will say how long they last.
2) Mask: Fits very well around the face, creating a good vacuum so there was no water coming in. Visibility was awesome, and it didn't fog for the 10 minutes I used it. I am guessing the mask comes treated with an anti-fog solution so I would recommend washing it with a mild soap before use. It is not tempered glass though, so I am curious to see how the set ages compared with my other set that has glass. On the good side, not having glass makes the mask way lighter.
3) Snorkel tube: This is the part that I liked most as the mouthpiece is very comfortable, and there is almost no residual water that accumulates in the bottom of the tube (in the other 3 sets I had before, I always had to blow hard when going back to the surface in order to purge the water that accumulated in the tube before breathing again). The tube uses a floater valve that closes really quickly when you go underwater, so very little water gets inside the mouthpiece.
The value for the money was not as great as with the US Divers set I got in Costco (paid $40 at the warehouse), however, I just found it retails for $80 in Amazon https://amzn.to/3jnTxPI so the deal at Costco was really good.
Both my wife and daughter like the Zeeporte set, so I am pretty happy with it.
I will update this review if I discover anything new.
Hope this review helps others!
