No you do not need a hub. Works 100% with Alexa to control your device.

Not sure. The plug essentially enables you to remotely turn the power on/off.

There is no direct link between this and the smart bulb. From the question, sounds like you're trying to find out if the plug will work as a hub for the smart bulb, which it won't. The plug connects directly via WiFi and does not need a hub nor will it work as a hub for the Ikea smart bulb. You can still switch on and off the bulb with this plug, if the bulb is connected to this plug, however, in that case, there is no point in the bulb being a smart one.

Its just a smart plug that you can plug in what device you want but you can turn it on and off using your phone via app or voice control via Google assistant or alexa

Sorry I don't know about the Ikea product, but the Smart Plug operates through your wifi (same network), no hub.

The gateway for Tradfri controls the dimmable features, colours and on, off etc. If you just want on and off function for a lamp it might work with the bulb just test it first by turning it on and off at the power point first before you buy.
