Customer Review

It's fun wears off a little bit and makes me feel like a remake wasn't the ideal approach but it's still a Pokemon game at the end of the day. I grew up watching the 1st gen show on repeat and the fact that this is pretty much all the pokemon from the Kanto region, allows me to ease into pretty well, although the game has been made easier as well.

I never got to play Pokemon when I was little and only got to borrow friends' GameBoys to play it. This gives me some of that nostalgia but I'm getting a new experience at the same being new to the game. I don't like how the Pokemon catching is RNG or at least feels RNG but I do prefer it over having to fight them all the time which probably would have got more tiresome. The visuals & animations remind me a lot of the Pokemon game from N64 (another 1 I never got to fully play). I also like that sound of the sound effects are kept old school-ish. The open world and story does lack a fair bit of depth though but this is in part due to modern day expectations and my own sense of expectation from anything open world. This is where the game kind of gets a bit boring.

Overall I'm having fun playing it though and happy I picked it up & gave it a chance.
