I have a 2nd Gen Echo Dot and the 4th Gen sound is far better the appearance is much nicer. I have the model with the LED clock and I wasn't sure if I would use it (it can be disabled) but it's a nice feature (I'm sure Alexa appreciates me not asking for the time!) Bluetooth connection for playing music is easy to use if you don't want to use cloud services. Worth the wait.
