GameFreak is incompetent. I don't know how or why, but it's the only explanation for the glaring technical issues and artistic flaws of this game. The pop-in is terrible, the stated reasons for Dexit are baffling, and performance is trash for what this game is (even with the console's limitations in mind).
As for the non-technical aspects, the music is great. The gameplay is disappointing and offers no significant innovations over previous games, while continuing the trend of being far too easy. The story is bottom-tier. The graphics are very uninspired and rough, especially next to other Switch titles like BotW and SMO. The world design is linear and unimpressive.
Kids (<13) will like it because it still miraculously succeeds in delivering the core formula of "raise a team of Pokemon and battles other trainers". It doesn't deliver on the promise of "catching them all", but most kids don't really care about that part of the game.
I've returned this without finishing it and probably won't buy another Pokemon game again.
