Clare Chase brings the reader another wonderful tale with this latest offering, Mystery at the Church, the sixth instalment in one of my all time favourite cozy mystery series, featuring Eve Mallow and her beautiful daschund Gus.
Is this a case of life imitating art or art imitating life? When a TV crew comes to Saxford St Peter to shoot a new drama series, Eve Mallow and its residents are excited to join in and be extras. But when its director, Rufus Beaumont is found dead, Eve’s amateur sleuthing skills kick in and she is on the case. Will she be able to solve the mystery before somebody yells cut, that’s a wrap and the final curtain falls?
I loved the plot for this one and I was immediately hooked from its opening chapter. As always Clare Chase makes you feel you are part of the story with beautiful writing that so vividly brings everything to life. It is also always such a delight to be transported back to Saxford St Peter and be reacquainted with its cast of colourful characters both old and new. Clare Chase has created such a great bunch that it always feels like you are catching up with old friends.
Mystery at the Church is a fun read and is another perfect addition to the series. It will hold you captive from beginning to end and with a host of characters to suspect, this one will keep you guessing right up to the big reveal. Although we do have to wait until January 2022 for the next instalment, I am so excited that there is another one to come in this delightful series to look forward too.
