Plugged the Nighthawk in straight after my ISP modem and it took over doing the traffic control for our home devices as well as two extenders. Installation went pretty smooth for a novice like me - so overall very happy now to have a unit with a good brain to help control & monitor home devices and I didn't have to change ISP modem
