The device was faulty. I opted for a refund rather than a replacement because I was not confident in the build quality of the product as a whole. The USB plug was very loose with every computer and USB hub that I plugged it into when trying to get it to work. Note, all the computers were able to recognise that a device was plugged in so the loose USB connector was a secondary issue to the actual fault.
