Download the phone app and install, plug the plug into power and go through the steps as per app and it works. I use it on a hot water urn so it doesn't work all the time and can even turn off from anywhere even when not at home. Now have 2 but plan to get more as they are brilliant. Great for places where you cannot get to the power point, like behind chairs, to turn appliances on or off.
