I thought I'd give the 2nd gen Amazon echo a go as it was on special with Prime Music.
The Good: ======== Speech recognition has improved over the last year and a half and it mostly gets everything you ask for correct. The screen is bright and clear. Touch screen is responsive.
The Average: =========== Sound quality is ok. Nothing to be excited about, you will get better sound out of other smart devices such as sonus.
The Bad: ======== The Echo Show does not work at all with my Prime Video account. It keeps erroring out. I contacted support via email, though responsive with a suggestion, it did not fix my problem.
I added in a Tidal add on, it does not function in Australia
Add on Alexa apps seem limited poor, and US centric. e.g. Things like quizes pretty much just cover US content. It's almost like the rest of the world does not exist. Maybe North Korea and the US have more in common than they think :-)
All of the news content is US centric. Unless you care greatly about the NFL or NBA scores, having the screen on it pointless.
Summary: ======== On the surface this looks like a great device, but in realtity it's deeply flawed talking alarm clock that is not worth the money if you are outside the US.
