About Pending Charges for Cancelled Orders

Sometimes the value of a cancelled order will be shown on your card balance.

When you place an order with Amazon.com.au, we may contact your payment card's issuing bank to confirm that your card has a valid number. This is communicated via a full authorisation for the purchase. However, we don't actually proceed with the charge. This is simply one of the security measures we use to protect our customers.

If you then cancel your order, even though we haven't proceeded with the charge, the bank may hold the authorisation on your card for up to 7 business days.

Note: You'll need to contact your bank if you want to have this authorisation removed before that.
