Product description

Babies are just like the rest of us: they're happier when their noses aren't blocked. But cleaning a baby's nose can be a challenge. Aspirator bulbs are okay for wet mucus, but they're just not effective on the sticky or dried mucus (okay, we'll say it) boogers! In fact, bulbs can actually push boogers further in, making it even harder to reach. oogiebear to the rescue! oogiebear is the first booger removal tool that safely and gently removes both sticky and dried boogers from a child's nose. oogiebear was developed with comfort in mind, offering two unique ends, a loop-end perfect for sticky boogers and a scoop end for safely removing dried boogers. This revolutionary tool is made of soft rubber and firm plastic tips that is easy for a parent to hold and gentle enough for your baby. The bear-head design is both fun and safe preventing the oogiebear from going too far into the baby's nose. It works great for little ears too! The oogiebear makes cleaning baby's nose and ears fun! (Okay, maybe not fun, but it works great!).

1.0 out of 5 stars Good lord , do not buy into this... 🙅🙅🙅

This is an OVER-PRICED device that doesn't even perform better than a Q-tip. Seriously, the poor new parents (like myself) that will get suckered into buying this unnecessary, expensive thing. Please believe me, just use a Q-tip. This is by no means "safer" or "better.” Another “must have” item to swindle more new parents to spend their hard earned money.

I thought this device was going to be made with soft silicone tips. I thought it would act like a version of an ear wax curette, but soft and for a baby's nose. The hooks on the ends are HARD and not flexible... unless you really want to use force and bend the hard plastic. The hooks have seams that a should have been smoothed out, but instead they left the rough edges. There's no advantage to this product over a Q-tip. It isn't any more maneuverable in a baby's nose and it gives you less visibility when inside the nose. Both pose the same risks when inserted into the nose. You still have to be just as extra careful and gentle with both devices... but at least a Qtip has a softer tip. The bear head is their “safety feature” to stop you from inserting the stick too far. If you make sure you pinch the Qtip with your fingers right below the cotton part of the Qtip, you fingers can also act as this safety barrier (revolutionary!). Yet another baby “invention” to take the place of something you likely already have in your household.

I have noted that boogies will cling onto a dry Q-tip A LOT better in comparison to this device (especially if you make the cotton tip a bit wispy with your fingers). And a wet Q-tip can help soften a hardened booger, then a dry one can grab it (saline spray also helps wet dry boogers). Seriously, save your money. My mother laughed when she saw that I bought this (I couldn't bare to tell her what I spent on it 😣💸). Also, baby tolerates Qtips over this device so much better (no rough edges). I found myself having to do a lot more “fishing around” in the nose with the boogie ear than I do with Qtips. There's a lot of baby items out there that are so unnecessary, and this is one of them. I hope I at least helped one person decide to save $20 😂🙌🏼 I'm embarrassed I bought into this. If this was something like $5 (like it should be) I would say, "sure, give it a try if you're curious." However, the price they're charging for a small piece of plastic is shameful. The amount of materials used to make this item compared to the price charged to consumers is greed at its finest. If you’re a new parent, be careful of all the baby gimmicks marketed to prey on your inexperience. Baby is now almost 2 years old, and I can still tell you that a Qtip is performing better than this plastic stick 🤦‍♀️ We also occasionally use our Hydrasense nose sucker for hard boogies that are “right there” (when sticking anything in there would only push it back further). We like the hydrasense over the frida (have both) for it’s smaller tip.

***If you buy this and plan to use it in baby’s nose and ears, please be careful about cross contamination that could be concern for increased risk of ear infection. The nose can carry bacteria that shouldn’t make contact with baby’s ear.***

4.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced But Very Effective
Reviewed in Canada on 13 November 2020
This is a very useful little gadget for new moms, especially when your baby has dry boogers. I saw a popular comment that a Q tip can easily replace this - NOT TRUE! A Q tip may be okay for an adult or an older child, but newborn noses are small, and all that a Q tip will do is push everything up the nose at best or damage / hurt the nose at worst! All healthcare practitioners strongly caution against using Q tips for baby noses!

I attached a video to demonstrate that it is firm enough to be able to scoop out dry boogers, but flexible enough to not hurt little noses.

Note that I find that one is enough, I can't imagine needing the double set unless it was for twins.

Pros:
- Cute design
- Soft and flexible
- Gets dry boogers out, as opposed to snot suckers
- Easy to clean

Cons:
- "Hooks" are a bit short
- Pricey

Please consider giving my review a helpful vote if you found it useful. Thank you!

5.0 out of 5 stars A real mom telling you It works!!
Reviewed in Canada on 24 April 2020
I know the picture is a bit gross, but this is seriously the best investment ever for parents with babies that struggle with crusty or sticky boogers! And, so I wanted to include a picture to prove it!

My baby constantly has boogers in her nose & always sounded like she had a hard time breathing because of it. So, as an “over-worrier” type mom I’ve thoroughly researched & bought just about every booger tool there is - the booger sucker with a tube, the bulb, qtips, etc., you name it! Yes those things would work to some degree, but always with great struggle, fussing, & crying. Just not worth all the time & effort for little results & upsetting my baby.

With the oogiebear I literally did a couple of quick & easy swipes & boom, nose cleared! I couldn’t believe how many boogies came out! My baby didn’t fuss, didn’t cry & to be honest didn’t really even seem to mind. I’m so happy to finally have found something that works! I feel as though I can breathe better myself when my baby can as well haha. Money well spent & mind at ease.
