I bought this for my seven year old granddaughter who surprised us by starting to build the train and platform herself. It was the first time she's been able to follow the instructions from the book without any adult assistance. Recommended for 8-12 years but I think younger ones would also enjoy the challenge. Of you have doubts about this set just look at precious version, it has nothing on this one, most people talk about the eyes, well just buy direct from lego other small round parts they sell that for and you actually can change the look, seen it done on YOUTUBE by a lego guy who does every thing lego, and some alternative solutions were

We tried multiple times assuming we had made a mistake but this LEGO doesn’t build according to the instructions. We tried modified builds but I gave up. My young son eventually put something similar together but it is modified and far from the instructions. We’ve bought and put together a lot of LEGO and the occasional piece we have

This LEGO set was the absolute best impulse purchase I made this year. The count of parts is huge, takes multiple (think 6 or more) hours to fully assemble, the quality is really good (minus the questionable stickers). A lot of thought went into it, the model itself is quite big (50cm+ long) with multiple moving parts.
