I read this book having several months of experience and having found out most of the issues mentioned through trial and error the hard way. Reading this book would have sped up the learning process a lot. You don't need a technical, electrical or engineering background to understand this book, nor 3d printing. Just a bit of common sense, a willingness to solve problems and a lot of patience. But reading this book will help a lot! I have only one criticism: personally I started with a build it yourself printer, which the author doesn't recommend. I would say putting that together taught me more about how the printer works than anything else could have. So I would recommend that as a beginner (even though it's not the easiest way).
There is a lot of technical stuff in this book you don't necessarily need to know but the important plus is that it's up to date (2020) so the recommendations and advice are more reliable than most available publications written a few years ago.
