We loved Edward the Emu so were excited to read this one. It was also very good and enjoyed by the children and adults in the household. We laughed out loud at many parts. It’s well written and flows easy to read with the way it rhymes. Nice theme around how the mother is looking for her purpose outside the home but realizes that for that time and phase in life, she feels for her, the most important role is at home taking care of her kids. My three year old really enjoys this book.
This book is one of my favourites, after the original Edward the Emu. The book rhymes and my first grade students get a kick out of Edwina's determination and adventures. The book does leave a lovely message about how being a mother is the very best job. I always make sure that I follow this up with a conversation about how it is an important job, but its not the only job for women. All in all its a lovely story with a warm message. The illustrations are delightful.
