Bottom line - if like me you are a semi-serious birder on the first trip to Eastern North America, this is the guide to buy. Carefully illustrated, comprehensive, with detailed observing notes. It's perhaps a little bigger than ideal, but it fitted into my jacket pocket and was a constant companion. My trip to Hudson Bay would have been incomplete without it. (The section on sandpipers was especially helpful here!)
I bought this guide for a forthcoming trip to New York. I'm new to American birds and find this guide easy to use, well designed and certainly portable enough to take on my travels. The artwork is excellent, similar in style to the Collins European guide. Very pleased with it.
I needed a compact bird guide for my holiday. I already had his guide to the Western USA which is wonderful. I knew this would not let me down. It is great and I will be using it for several years now ( our daughter and family have just moved to Indiana )
good book this is without a doubt an important work for anyone who appreciates and is interested in bird watching. it is a book that covers a huge area of North American territory, good information, supported by concise maps to a better location. Very good pictures.
