Very small book, very few pages ,very disappointing, We have Humans of New York, which is a lovely book with lots of photos, on this premise I ordered Little Humans, In future when ordering a second book in a series, I will try to find out more about it before I rush in, The photos that there are , are nice, but as a present ,which is why I bought it, it is too small, I had to buy something to add to it,
The 2 Stars is because the description does not say that the target audience for the book is 4 - 8 years. I was surprised to see a thin book with large images and minimal written material in large fonts that read like a rhyme. And then I read the description (in the book) and I found that the book is indeed for kids. Not much material for adults, but the kids are all cute and the book quality is good.
Lacking in content. Children have so much to say, and I wish this book included conversations or quotes from the children. The photos are nice, but the book would be really powerful with words of children. I would not have purchased this book if I'd realized it was only pictures.
VERY disappointing. Since I'm a huge fan of HONY on facebook, I expected stories about the children featured in the book, little vignettes about their lives and styles and ambitions, etc- thats NOT what this book is. Its geared to small children and quite frankly, my 6yr old granddaughter is at a reading level past where this book lands. she zipped through it very fast and it actually doesnt even hold your attention for too long and I cant see either her or myself going back to read it over and over again. VERY disappointing.
Although the pictures in this book are cute, it is not what I had expected based on following Brandon on Instagram. If you follow his Humans of New York on Instagram, you know that there is a short story about the person he is photographing - sometimes sad, sometimes happy - but we get a view in to the person's life. This book, Little Humans, is just pictures, no dialogue, no descriptions. Cute kids. But I was disappointed that it was not what I had hoped. Likely may have been my fault, maybe I didn't read the description, but I was just so excited to get it, I didn't read the fine print.
Should have checked the page # closer before I purchased. Purchased on a whim because my girlfriend wanted it as a gift. Its incredibly short, and there's no "fun/cute" stories like the older sibling. Super disappointed; but I guess for $10 or so its not a huge loss. Girlfriend enjoyed it as much as she could..
