I will echo what others have said. Beautiful book, but very few original recipes if you follow Angela's blog and have her first cookbook. I was disappointed - very few new entrees, and too heavy on things like smoothies and treats, most of which are already published elsewhere. I would stick with her first book and not bother with this one if you are already a fan of her blog.
I should have listened to the reviews. But I loved her first cookbook and the blog, so had to see this for myself. There are a lot of recipes from the blog, recipes that aren't very original, and few entrees. Some recipes were overly basic and seemed like filler (almond butter, guacamole, hummus). Buy her first book if you don't already have it. Save your money on this one.
I'm not someone who likes to spend hours in a kitchen. I like to cook, eat, and get out doing stuff. And unfortunately, most of the recipes in this book are fussy - long on exotic and expensive ingredients and time consuming to prep.
I ended up giving this to a friend who might have more patience.
Made about 5 recipes so far. The desserts are great, but the soups....oh wow so awful. I thought a marriage between lentils and cabbage would be wonderful - two of my favourite foods - but it was terrible. Same with the French lentil soup. Strange taste. The crackers were awful tasting, although the consistency was ok...a bit like styrofoam, but stayed together. Maybe just not my thing. The writing and photos are a bit of a ego trip, but so is writing a review on Amazon.
Have the original Oh She Glows. Good recipes, but I hate to cook and most were far too time consuming for my interest level. I was excited to learn about this book and thought that the recipes would give me dinner on the table in under an hour... actually, thought many would be closer to half-hour based on the ebook intro. Like the original, looks like great recipes... for someone who loves spending a lot of time in the kitchen.
I am a huge Oh She Glows fan - following her blog as well as having the app and original cookbook. I was very excited for her second book unfortunately I have to echo what some of the other reviews have stated. The book provides updated recipes that have already been posted elsewhere (app, original book or blog). Or recipes that feel very similar to other recipes (gravy, mushroom bowls, cookie dough balls, caesar salad, lettuce taco wraps etc.) I can understand why one wants to share tweaked and improved recipes however the overall feeling is that the book lacks original or new exciting recipes. If choosing to purchase a cookbook I would recommend her first book and the app.
