A very entertaining read.

So first, the good things.
The 2 main characters are great. Specially Lira. She had some amazing character development and it was a joy to follow her on her journey.
The story was perfectly paced. I struggled put this book down and lost quite a few hours of sleep reading this book. It's been a while since I've found a book this entertaining.
At least give the sample a try. If you like Lira, keep reading. It will not disappoint.
Onto the bad things... There is so much I can say here.
First the secondary characters, they were all one dimensional. Nothing more to say here. All of them were bland and unmemorable.
The world building was quite lazy, relying on a great deal of suspension of disbelief on the part of the reader. It also relies that we are familiar enough with classic fairy tales to fill in the holes.
The whole pirate thing. I don't get it. They aren't pirates. They never do anything pirate like at all. I think the point of calling them 'pirates' was so that they sound cool. I don't get it.
There were a few inconstiencies in the story, specially at the start. It might be nitpicking but it did take me out of the story.
In spite of all this, I immensely enjoyed this book. I put that down mostly to Lira and very good pacing.
Give it a try if you are a fan of adventure, romance and Lira.
