To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Best book for beginners. I’ve brought 3 books, all three had great reviews and this was by far the best. I searched a while before buying all three, trying to find the 3 best and this was the best of the 3.
It’s written very simple and straight forward. Goes into enough detail to make it informative. And the structure of the book is perfect. Some of the other books I’ve read seem to be a bit muddled.
Everything in the book flows and by the time you get to the end all bases have been covered
An excellent book both for beginner and intermediate distillers. Written primarily for the american market but does have metric quantities for volume and temperature etc (will america ever come into 21st century on weights and measures). The writer - Rick Morris - portrays a solid understanding of all aspects of both production and chemistry of spirit manufacture at the hobbyist level (or probably most aspects, but I cant find fault with his writing). I did read the book from cover to cover and enjoyed it. Good value for money.
This book is very detailed in how to make your own spirit from grain and the perils of methanol etc, but does not take that any further than that. If you are looking for a book at helps make gin, for example, and how to balance botanicals and the steps beyond getting the raw spirit, then this isn't for you. If I were looking for creating just the spirit, I'd give this 5* but I wasn't and maybe that is my fault, but the title suggested something different.
this is a great book for intrest, nice style of writing, concentrates on the more traditional methods, which is fine, as i think if you are interested in the subject it all adds knowledge, i was intrested in the air still, it does mention it as a product, explains its principle but thats all, but as a general book to stimulte the brain this is simple enough, concise enough, and is a great refrence book. well done the author.
