Okay, no, that isn’t it. It is true. I do love her. I love her writing and I love her feminist views and I love her attitude and I wish I was bolshy, like her. In her book The Truth Will Set You Free we get a collection of her quotations and quotes from other people. They are all inspirational and I really don’t have anything to say about this books that isn’t positive. It is a perfect boost to make your day more positive.
The Truth Will Set You Free, But First it Will Piss You Off – Thoughts on Life, Love and Rebellion by Gloria Steinem.
Fantastic words of encouragement and wisdom for anyone who is struggling to find their place in the world. Gloria is an inspiration to all the girls that have been taught to sit in the corner but want to have a voice. If I could thank her in person for everything she has taught me I’d run out of words. Thank you Gloria for giving good little girls everywhere a voice and the courage to be themselves 100% unapologetically.
This is listed as a book of quotes and since I've read some of Gloria Steinem's quotes, I thought this would be a collection of those. It is not. There is perhaps one quote for every four pages, so the entire book doesn't have many. Most of them are lengthy ideas, not actually quotes, and many of them are just plain boring. There were a couple of studies that sounded interesting, but really I got this for the quotes which were not here.
I think most of the people leaving great reviews are reviewing Gloria, not the book. She is articulate and not verbose and says meaningful things. But overall I could not recommend this book and it definitely shouldn't be marketed as a book of quotes.
