A highly readable general guide to the photography of wildlife. The author is a highly competent photographer and the reproduction of his attractive and creative images is excellent; it is is good to see so much space given over to them. The accompanying narrative is informative and well written.
Having bought this book out of an interest to move into wildlife photography, liking the preview and following the author Richard Bernarbe on Twitter, I was immediately drawn in and really impressed with such a beautiful book. He has covered everything from photography basics, gear, lighting, geography and every possible aspect of any animal you encounter you could think of, including taking your camera kit under water!!! (Something I am now seriously considering). There is a great balance between learning how to take various shots and showcasing some truly amazing wildlife photography, this would be a great buy for both those interested in photography and those just interested in some of the amazing animals on our planet and how they were captured through photos. I will not be putting this down for a while and the more I read the more inspiring Richards journey across the planet is. Beautiful animals captured with beautiful photography.
This comprehensive book will help you improve and capture better photographs whether you are a beginner or an enthusiast who wants to brush up on some skills ;) Chapters dedicated to different types of wildlife give you an advice of how to photograph your subject using Richard's tricks. The book contains essential information on equipment, exposure, lighting, composition, autofocus and strategies. These stunning photos will make you fall in love with wildlife and want to make you to book a few trips ,) Love this book.
Not only superb pictures but really useful tips to improve your photography without descending into technobabble. First photography book that I've seen that stressed the importance of geographically separate backups. Get the physical version.
A beautiful book full of great tips and inspiring pictures. I hope to go on one of his workshops in the future but in the meantime I'll read the book from cover to cover and get out and take some pictures.
I follow Richard on Twitter and when I saw he had a book coming out, I had to order it. Richard is an amazing wildlife photographer and his book does not disappoint. The photos are displayed beautifully and throughout Richard describes the shots along with instructions as to how to shoot wildlife as he does. This is an easy five stars and I highly recommend.
