To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
This book disappointed me. I was really looking forward to learning about the Etruscans. Nor do I have any idea why Harriet would have fallen in love with this man. The characters were not at all well developed and the writing style was so very slow.
Sorry folks, but I think this book is a waste of time. I write this, knowing there have been loads of 5 star reviews, but it just did not get me at all and I have no clue as to why people like this book. I managed to get to 49% read and then caved due to frustration with the story and feeling like I was reading some kind of psychobable.
The story is fairly well written up to about 20-30%. The characters are acceptable, but not believable. Then yo get to the character of Harriet and I have to ask if she is demented and should be locked up.
I found the mention of the lesbian situation Sarah and Harriet were in for a brief time just unacceptable. It should not have been included and further downgraded the story.
As to the storyline.... You have got to be kidding me is all I can say.
I just looked at what the author is charging for her book. $6.99 for the Kindle version. All I can say folks is this, save your money.
