I wanted to enjoy another book about sensible, evidence based, nutritional advice. I admit I had some misgivings about the conclusions drawn from Campbell's China Study, and hoped for clarification. What I got was a defensive diatribe against medical, pharmaceutical, political and even scientific interests. I found his 'poor me, noone listens to me' style so annoying I put the book aside. In his favour, he does provide good references (picked to confirm his viewpoint). I will return to the book and compare his conclusions, especially about fats, with other available research evidence.
A classic. Connects all the dots in a meaningful way. My respect for this man has grown ever since reading The China Study. I love the way he encourages any would be young detractors in some of the material on you tube. His reply to Munger is available via Vegsource, always the gent but outclasses her in every way. One of the greatest living nutritional scientists of our era.
Reading this book is a liberating experience. It confirms so much of what I felt before when eating food and following traditional guidelines, yet had no basis to articulate my concerns. Strongly recommended.
A book i go back to many times -It looses a little by being a kindle read but it is sound information that makes you think! about the value of food that we eat-i am not a vegetarian or a complete Vegan but have always had issues with Dairy: gives me Migraine-Have been a Paid Cook all my Life and i am a good cook and yet i am still learning about food Nutrition---Our English Diet is not a good one. Yes rethinking the science of Nutrition is a Book we all need to READ.
A refreshing insight into how we are increasingly blinded by science into following like sheep ( or in this case lemmings). This book will inevitably filter through to change my diet, outlook and questioning of all I read and hear in the media and encourage me to think for myself.
I read it in one sitting on a Eurostar trip to London. It is a book I feel everyone should read. It challenges just about everything we've been "taught" about what we need to do to maintain health and then tells us how we got into this mess in the first place. Dr. Campbell is a very brave genius. If you don't like this book, then you need to read it again without prejudice.
