Did not work with my HP LaserJet Professional M1136 MFP. Is says installation is done successfuly how the printer does not print anything. It print only when I connect the printer directly to my PC but not thru print server. Asked for refund.
Amazing product and very useful to connect a USB printer to the network. It has some issues of connectivity and have to reset occasionally but overall I feel it is the best and cheapest alternative available to make a non network printer to be connected to the network! The only disappointment I have is, I am unable to scan document over the network which could be a limitation of the printer too.
I spent hours trying to configure the unit I received. I attempted to connect it from a Windows system, Macs, I tried everything to connect my HP Laserjet Pro P1102 to my network and although the TP-Link configuration software let me connect to the print server and showed the printer on its list, I could never get any of my devices to connect to the printer. I ended up going back to USB only with a longer cable and sharing the printer from one of my computers. I have a managed network at home and I could see the print server connected but it simply did not allow computers to connect via IP, whether through RAW or LPD/LPR. Definitely not recommended.
My good ol' LaserJet doesn't look like it's going to quit on me any time soon but I really wanted wireless printing capabilities. So I purchased this device with hopes for a mobile printing solution. At last! I was finally able to print from all our mobile devices and desktops. Unfortunately, the unit started malfunctioning a few weeks later: documents would just keep printing over and over, waisting loads of paper. Everytime, I'd have to unplug the unit to make it stop. After various attemps to reset the device, I could no longer reconfigure or install it... Product returned. I guess I'll have to buy a wireless printer after all.
The server is very small physically, so you can fit it anywhere. The installation is seamless and fast as the instructions are very clear and easy to follow.. I configured the server and 3 computers very quickly (Linux & Windows). I didn't used the software provided, I prefer to install it directly from the server's web page. It works perfectly with my HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 2515. Of course, I cannot scan directly but I don't mind as I can reconnect the printer to a computer very easily. The price is very accessible as I considered to use a Raspberry 3 as a print server, but the cost is much higher.
Easier setup on a Home based network (192.168...etc) because it auto finds it, but not the end of the world for a Business network (setup via a home laptop, change the IP address, put it back on the Business network... good to go. My only complaint is that I have lost double sided printing, but that is likely a driver issue and not the Print Server.
The product is really good and it works perfectly it would have been better if it can work with the function scan as well.. It doesn't work bidirectional.. So i guess if anyone want's with the function scan then this is not the right product..
Product works great but will not work out of the box depending how your network is setup. Default IP of the TP-LINK is 192.168.0.10 which means you cannot connect to it unless your network has the same IP (i.e. 192.168.0.XXX). If you have a LINKSYS router for example with the default IP is 192.168.1.1. That means you will not be able to communicate to the TP-LINK unless you have the IP address of your network changed to 192.168.0.XXX. Its not a big deal but for those who just want something to work right away this is probably not it.
Product does not support most of the printers, tried on Epson L130 and HP 1005 laser printer, but failed to connect. Money was wasted as there is no return policy. The discription of product does not show list of printers it supports. Have bought several products of TP link before, but had a very bad experience about this product.
