As an old Woodstock-generation rocker, I'll take southern-based Little Feat ahead of California's Eagles every time. I haven't listened to the LPs in years, so laying hands on the CD cut of "Feats Don't Fail Me Now" has brought back all the youthful vigour of Lowell George's creations. Heartily recommended to those who wonder what we got us going 40 or 50 years ago.
I had never heard of Little Feat until an old school friend, who I met up with again after more than 40 years, recommended it. He spent a lot of his earlier years working in the pop group industry so heard and saw a wide choice of different types of music. Every track seemed to be of a slightly different style of rock. I especially enjoyed the boogie keyboard playing. Cannot fault it at all.
This is really good music - but if you compare the quality of the recording with others made in 1972/73 ( like for example Steely Dan) this album sounds rather fuzzy. If you are not put off by the sound quality, then enjoy!
Probably the best studio collection Little Feat put together. Still not as good as live concerts but Rock and Roll Doctor, Skin it Back, Down the Road, and Cold Cold Cold still burn. Can be obtained at excellent prices.
