I'm curious behind the selection of songs that are included in a collection like this. Beastie Boys had so many hits that it makes a selection like this difficult. No doubt some great songs are included on this album, but some of the ones that were included over some that were left off was a bit peculiar. Of course, I could give my own examples, but the reality is that everybody has their own favorites. With the format of this purchase being vinyl, 2 out of the 3 or 4 songs on a side of the album may be ones that you would prefer to skip. The album cover, however, is just epic, old-school 1980s. Overall, I would rate this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Here we have the definative collection of the best White hip-hop band ever.
This is what I would say is probably the coolest best-of I've heard in years, that is chock full of songs that you would instanly recognise and some you probably didn't know were by the Beasties'!
It starts off with 'So What You Want' a rocky rap tune that is one of my favourate songs by this group that instantly shows them as innovators of the game with no fear as they tear through any beat.
The interesting thing I found about this album is you could listen to most of it and not be able to tell when it was recorded because they all still sound fresh as they did when they were first released.
From the 20 songs my fave songs that I would particularly recommend are -
Fight for your right Body movin' with great Fat Boy Slim Ch-check it out An Open Letter To NYC
So all in all I would highly recommend if you are a fan of any genre of music because when something is this diverse and innovative, it is hard to not like + ITS THE BEASTIES!
While the songs are great, the quality is not good. It sounds like they were recorded from the original masters with nothing being done to improve the transfer. So the older songs sound tinny and grainy, which is very noticable when played on a good stereo.
