To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
I couldn't be more annoyed. I tried to send this item back and it got returned to me. The item doesn't work, its not worth the money... I am going to be taking this item to trading standards, I am concerned with it. It cuts your skin, and the item is horrendous. DO NOT BUY IT.
I don't think I've ever written a review for anything before. I'll make an exception for this though, given how bad it is.
I thought I'd save a bit of money and purchase this, as opposed to the more expensive options that ultimately look exactly the same. The cheap and tacky build means that it often moves or clicks out of place during use, making it difficult to use with any degree of accuracy. Not that it really matters, because when you do (eventually) get the blade where you want it, all it does is pull on them. My back was all scratched and although some of the hair was pulled out, the majority of it remains. My skin was left stinging and sensitive for about an hour after I used it.
I'm sure that with alot of time, a high pain tolerance and the patience of a saint, you could, eventually make some progress. But to be quite honest I do not reccomend it.
If you're desperate enough and you absolutely must buy something like this, I would save the 30 quid or so and invest in a more expensive model. I do not reccomend you make the same mistake I did!
Hasten to add the Mangroomer Back Hair Shaver was ordered by me for my husband. I am not accustomed to having a hairy back myself , however my husband says its just the job for his Yeti type back and chest. The item comes without batteries and not re chargeable type , don't know the life expectancy of the batteries in use with the groomer as yet , because its still in its infancy stage, as the item has not been used for long, so will update as required.
This is a totally honest review of this product. First the product looks okay and is fairly sturdy. If you treat it with care I don’t think it will break easily. The extension is sufficient to reach all areas of your back and with a bit of practice you soon get used to it and can get to all areas. But how does it perform ? The first problem is that the head is fixed so unless you get it square with your back it simply won’t cut properly. As for cutting you certainly have to do 4-5 movements over the area to ensure you get all the hair off. It does not leave you totally smooth but does get fairly close. People have mentioned it tugging your hair. It definitely can do this and can also nip you. I used it for the first time and it caused two minor nips which drew blood. I got this as like many people have reviewed, it stops having to ask your partner to do it for you. And with a bit of practice and patience you can get your back done to a reasonably good level. There are very few similar products on the market and I certainly did not want to go for a razor type one. I think the more advanced version will be better i.e. the mangroomer pro. This has two flexible heads and I think that bit of flexibility will help to get the blade square to your back. It also has a rechargeable battery but you will need a USA to UK plug adapter. I have ordered a mangroomer pro so look out for the review. Overall if you do want to go for the more expensive option the. I would say that the basic mangroomer is worth it. It will take you a couple of goes to get used to it and the result will be fine and you should never have to ask your partner again.
Once you get the hang of this it's great to use for getting your back smooth. I've used it five times now in total and it's already blunt and nips me continuously. I have lots of nips/scratches all over my back when I use, and many teeny tiny dots of blood. I'm tough so this doesn't hurt, but I'd appreciate not being nipped. It's inconvenient. I'm a normal man bloke, tough manly skin, normal back hair wisps - I'm not Robin Williams hairy.
