To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
EDIT: Less than two years after purchase, and having cobbled it back together numerous times and just put up with the poor performance, it has finally given up the ghost all together. I am dismayed at the terrible quality of materials and workmanship. See the photos for details.
I bought the latest model of the P7 to replace my old one, which I gave to my mother. That old model is going strong nine years after purchasing it, but my new model, at little over a year old, is dead already. It hasn't been a patch on its predecessor: the battery life has been absolutely dismal, giving me only about ten minutes of usable light from fresh batteries; the variable brightness function has stopped working; and the material used for the battery casing, being a cheap flimsy plastic, has cracked, so the batteries no longer stay in place. I am bitterly disappointed.

DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE TORCHES UNLESS YOU DO NOT MIND WALKING IN THE DARK The quality and function of this torch is completely different to the P7.2 purchased IN 2017 and it is still going. The P7.2 works fantastic, this one turns itself of for no reason, turn it back on and it goes into a flashing mod within seconds. The torch when turned on lasts about 30 secs then goes into disco mod. (Do not mind dancing but not tripping when it keeps flashing on and off) 3 times i have had to return it and there will not be a 4th. I have tried to contact company direct, but they have not got the decency to respond. Amazon have been brilliant in quickly replacing the unit. I personally think they should remove it from sales. If they had 0 as O/All rating it would give it that.
After a few years of constantly buying cheap torches I finally had enough and decide to buy a good quality one for £££. Looked around the web for a while and finally decided to go with the Ledlenser 501046. It was delivered quickly and looked the part upon opening the box. The first two days (with new batteries) it was quite impressive how much it lit up the yard in the evening as I let the dogs out. Sadly, after the third/forth day of limited use the intense light began to fade rapidly on all three settings to the point it was even worse than the cheapo torches I had previously. Really disappointed and returned for a refund.
This appears to be a faulty batch. The cap that gives access to battery cage will not open. It’s completely sealed, and unless you have access to a blow torch or a small thermonuclear device, you won’t gain access.
I ordered one at the reduced price, it was inaccessible. I received a replacement - also inaccessible. The third unit....
Bought the Ledlenser P7 Professional as an upgrade to an old Maglite Mini. Beautifully presented in its own box with batteries and a carrying case included. Unfortunately when I came to put the batteries into the torch, the screw cap at the base of the torch was stuck tight and impossible to turn. As an able bodied adult I thought not being able to unscrew the cap was strange so I double checked all the instructions just in case the was a particular way to unscrew the cap. There was not. Pretty confident I could have unscrewed the cap with a pair of self grip pliers but that defeats the whole purpose of buying a presision manufactured German product. Very disappointed and subsequently returned the Ledlenser P7 and will now be looking at the Maglite range for an upgrade.
Very inadequate and poor operating instruction. Drawing is totally different from torch sent. Manufacturer e-mailed by me for explanation. I am very dissatisfied. 5 or 7 yrs. guarantee if registered, but no instructions as how to register. May request a full refund if adequate explanation not provided.
Very disappointed with the product, although I'm sure it would have been great. Upon arrival, the battery compartment was so tightly done up that it was impossible to open without putting in a vice and using a wrench! It's going back as I didn't want to risk damaging it (it was supposed to be a birthday present)!!
Bought at a reduced price but like several other recent reviewers I seem to have received one from a faulty batch because it was impossible to unscrew to insert the batteries. Now returned it. Disappointing because I bought a previous version and that works excellently and it was one of the reasons I wanted a second one to put in the car in case of emergencies.
I returned this item as I could not (and neither could anyone else who tried) remove the casing to put the batteries in, I am very disappointed as the torches did look like very sturdy and well made. Also the instructions weren’t very way to understand I had to go on you tube to see how to put the batteries in. Regards Julie
