Whilst this torch is very bright, pound for pound there are better options out there, I have several small 1AA 7w 300 lumen LED torches bought from Amazon and for the price they give far better value. I bought this on offer and still feel it is too expensive for what you get. The head rocks so the zoomed beam moves and does not focus sharply. I doubt very much that I will ever buy another LED Lenser torch, you don't always get what you pay for.
This torch has a weird method of brightness control that demands that you press the 'on' button multiple times to dim it. Anyway, the dimming thing has stopped working after less than a year, leaving me not knowing whether the only brightness it gives is the full one or something dimmer. Not too happy, and no apparent option on the Amazon site to claim against any warranty. I guess I should have bought from the manufacturer, but I was lured by a special offer.
Later: the problems I reported above were due to a failing battery. I'd been running the torch on full power due to the fiddly nature of the dimming control, with the result that the batteries flattened quite quickly. I still don't like the dimming control, though: it would be better if the default order bright:less bright:low power were reversed, to make the low power setting the default. Upgraded to three stars.
The torch is incredibly bright at its highest setting but the lowest is still pretty adequate for just walking along. However the hole for the wrist strap doesn't have round edges and the strap lanyard frayed through, causing the torch to fall off. Luckily it is very strong and doesn't seem to have suffered, however I live on a boat so it could easily have been lost. The charging cradle has become a bit unreliable, it needs a bit of fiddling to get the torch contacts to seat properly. Past the Amazon returns date so I may have to contact the company.
I purchased this torch based on reviews and when I switched it on I found that it was out shone by a Duracell torch I had purchased from a local store many years ago. It has a 450 lumen rating which to me was not bright as said. I then brought a Duracell Flashlight, Tough MULTI PRO Series Torch, Extremely Bright 550 Lumen LED Light. At £29.99 its cheaper than the Led Lenser at £38.25. When this was switched on it was what I expected. It out shone both the Led lenser and my old Duracell torch. In my eyes and I dont recommend looking at the bulb I would not bother with the Lenser, go straight for the Duracell. Very happy!
I bought this as an upgrade.I have the Lenser T7 and cos the P7R was advertised as being brighter and with the rechargeable battery I dived in feet first. Bad mistake. Not that much difference in my T7,bright beam wise. Would of been better if I have never owned a Lenser before,I suppose cos I can remember the joy of 1st using the T7. So,great if you have never owned a high quality Lenser, but bad if like me,it's an upgrade.
Good bright torch but I didn’t like the way this one focuses. The head moves too easily and also there’s a degree of play in the connect that makes it feel cheap. A screw type adjustment would be much better than the sliding forward/backward.
Battery seems to be used faster than old version plus switch on end is too sensitive resulting in switching on in pocket sometimes, which never happened with the old one which also had a high and low setting. This just has on off
Perfectly sized, but severely underpowered for use in the ambulance service. My phone's flash light was more effective. I guess you can only cram so much into such a small item, but if you need it for heavy duty outdoor use at night, look for something a bit bigger. If it's just for occasional indoor use then it'll do the job. It's a shame as it has a superb look and feel to it.
Not overly impressed, started my shift and the touch works fine then the next minute it just stops and now only turns on when the button in held in which then makes it useless because I have it on a mount so I don't need to hold it
